Abdalah Sfeir is an educator and a professional engineer. After completing his undergraduate studies in France, he joined the University of California at Berkeley earning his Ph.D. in 1969. Since then, he has led an academic career in his home country Lebanon and has also served in France and the US. As a faculty, Dr. Sfeir’s teaching and research interest include several areas of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, heat transfer and digital imagery. He was also engaged in adapting novel computer algebra and symbolic computation techniques in his teaching, research and professional practice. In later years, Dr. Sfeir took up leadership positions at the Lebanese American University, first as founding Dean of the School of Engineering, then as Provost until his retirement from administration in 2012. Dr. Sfeir has always had a strong interest in the globalization of the work-market and has been heavily implicated in the organization and management of international student mobility networks.
