The Department of Architecture and Interior Design is hosting a lecture titled “Sustainable Architecture in Milan and Dubai, a Different Context” by Joe Zaatar.
Zaatar, born in Beirut, graduated from Politecnico di Milano in 2005 and won two international competitions in sustainability: Sustainable Architecture Fassa Bortolo in 2007 and the Green Good Design Award in 2009. He worked in Milan (Italy) until 2013 on over 100,000 sqm of medium scale built projects in Europe such as the new headquarters of Alcatel-Lucent, the multi-tenant Edison Business Center, the technologic and scientific park, and Corsica 7 residence to name a few. Since 2013, he has been running his own architectural practice zetaarch, writes architectural reviews, and has been invited to participate as lecturer and member of the jury for different competitions. Since fall 2015, he started teaching architectural design courses as a part-timer at NDU.
Based on the selection of mainly 3 projects, the lecture will evolve around the idea and the knowledge that there exists an intimate and mutual relationship between architecture and the context.
