Layal Merhi is an architect, artist, and designer. She completed her RIBA accredited Master in Architecture at the Bartlett, UCL. Prior to moving to London, she graduated with distinction from the Lebanese American University’s School of Architecture and Design in 2013. Her thesis project was nominated for the Chadirji Award for Excellence in Architecture, organized by the Order of Engineers and Architects in Lebanon. Merhi’s work has been exhibited on a number of occasions. Her academic work in Beirut as well as in London has appeared in several publications since 2012. A registered architect in both Lebanon and the United Kingdom, she has worked with several practices on numerous projects ranging in scale from furniture to residential towers and urban planning projects. She has more recently been the architect in charge of a series of playscapes being built for Syrian refugees in the region.
