Hanibal Srouji is born in Lebanon in 1957. He holds a Master degree in Fine Arts from Concordia University. Since 1989, he has been living and working between Paris, France and Beirut, Lebanon. He joined LAU in 2010, where he is teaching at the position of Associate Professor of Practice. For the past 2 years, Hanibal Srouji is equally holding the position of the Chair of the Department of Art and Design, at the LAU.

In addition to his teaching in Fine Arts and especially the Foundation Program, where he has published ‘A Methodology of teaching fundamentals of art and design’.

L’Agenda Culturel has published a book of his work in their collection Paroles d’artistes. Galerie Janine Rubeiz has published an autobiographical book entitled: “Hanibal Srouji: painting fire, water, earth and air” as the first of series of the artists’ books.

Professional Work & Exhibitions

As a practicing artist, he has held personal exhibitions in Lebanon (Galerie Janine Rubeiz), France (Europia Gallery, Paris), Switzerland (Galerie Eulenspiegel, Basel), United States (June Kelly Gallery, NY), Japan (MJM gallery, Tokyo), Kuwait (Sultan Gallery) and Canada (Bay Saint Paul) among others. He has also participated in numerous collective exhibitions and international Art Fairs. His work is in public and private collections in the AUE, France, Canada, Lebanon, Morocco, Switzerland, Singapore and the USA.
