AKSB 904, Beirut campus
The Department of Art & Design is hosting a lecture titled: “Dirt - A Substance, Such as Mud or Dust, That Soils Someone or Something” by Manda Remmen, discussing the value of words, naming, and dirt in the making and understanding of place.
Manda Remmen is the chair of the Art Department and assistant professor of Art at Emory & Henry College. Born and raised in Colorado, she earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville after completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drawing and Sculpture at Colorado State University. Remmen’s artwork is continually influenced by location and cultural climate. Fascinated by the way meaning is determined, language and materials become the inspiration for the making of a symbol for place.
