Bernard Haddad is a visual artist-researcher and printmaker whose practice moves across printmaking, screen printing, installations, paintings, drawings, and research-creation. He holds a PhD in Arts Studies and Practices (research-creation) from Canada, an MFA in Graphic Arts specializing in printmaking and screen printing from Slovakia, and a Higher Diploma in Fine Arts from the Lebanese University (FBAA-2). His training also includes workshops in digital and electronic technologies in Montreal, particularly Arduino, MAX/MSP/Jitter, Pure Data, and 2D/3D animation. Since the 1990s, his artistic practice has encompassed solo and group exhibitions in Lebanon, Canada, Slovakia, Paris, including exhibitions at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Sursock Museum, the Paris Biennale, the French Institute in Beirut, and various galleries and art centers. His solo projects include Chronicles of Cases, In-Between, That Which Is in Excess, Soliloquies, You Still There, and Enter and Exit, and Difference to Oneself. Over the past several years, his research has focused on the various modes through which words and images circulate at the intersection of the Web and physical conflicts, with particular attention to forms of excess. Through his practice, he develops a conceptual inquiry into these modes of circulation, articulating notions of temporalities of absence, excess, suspension, and in-between spaces.
