Hind el Chaar is a Beirut-based interior Architect and lighting designer with a career that spans Beirut and New York City. Her work is driven by a deep understanding of spatial design, human experience within interior spaces and the transformative power of light.
She has built a diverse portfolio that includes a wide range of projects, from residential villas and retail spaces to large scale architectural lighting designs. While working at a Manhattan-based architectural lighting firm, she contributed to diverse projects, including universities, airline offices at JFK airport, skyscrapers, restaurants and hospitality venues.
Beyond her design practice, El Chaar has been a faculty member at LAU since 2020, where she teaches interior design studios and lighting design courses. She also founded Etchesconcept, a fashion studio that blends architectural principles with human emotion, emphasizing sensorial and experiential design.
With a multidisciplinary background, El Chaar holds a bachelor’s degree in interior Architecture from LAU (2010) complimented by minor courses in Islamic Architecture. She later obtained A master’s degree in lighting design from Parsons the New School of Design (2017). Also, she attended photography workshops as well as participated in fashion design workshops during her stay in Manhattan. Through her work, she continuously explores the dynamic relationship between people, space and light creating environments that are both experiential and functional.
