Practicing architect and LAU B.Arch. alumni, Vanessa Dammous joined LAU in 2008 as part-time faculty member to teach architecture and interior architecture studios. She was appointed Adjunct faculty member in 2013 and Adjunct Associate Professor in 2024.
She holds a B.Arch. from the Lebanese American University, a degree in Stage Design from the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, and a Master’s in Product Design from Domus Academy in Milan. Her multidisciplinary background spanning architecture, scenography, and product design, has shaped a practice grounded in spatial thinking, representation, and interdisciplinary inquiry. She integrates these influences into both her academic and creative work.
Her teaching and research explore architecture through its relationship to context, narrative, memory and the city, incorporating references from film, art, literature, and other disciplines as instruments for architectural thinking.
Alongside teaching, Dammous maintains a multidisciplinary professional practice encompassing architecture, interior design, scenography, furniture, and ceramics. Her work operates across scales and her contributions include the scenography of the Lebanese Pavilion at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale, contributions to the Beirut Urban Declaration, and the curation of exhibitions at LAU.
