The Department of Architecture and Interior Design is organizing a lecture entitled “Diversions” conducted by Pierre Hage-Boutros.

Pierre Hage-Boutros is an interior designer who lives and works in Beirut. His fascination with the city as an object, urban-scale installations and industrial design led him to co-found with architect Rana Haddad, dblu, a design and architecture practice-workshop.
Focusing on the micro scale through the remodeling and refurbishing of houses that is complemented by the design of custom-made pieces tackling the specificities of each situation and bringing into play the local skills available in Lebanon. This interest in the city and an aspiration to bridge the academic field with this entity through the use of daily findings and oral history, dblu’s activities developed in the educational domain by the founding in 1997 of the ‘atelier de recherche’ at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA). Also, and stemming from a keen interest in installations as objects of social and urban statements, dblu produced several installations and performance works in Beirut, Mantes la Jolie, Bern, Geneva and Algiers and collaborated with various NGO, (Patrimoines sans frontières (FR), Assabil, Arc en Ciel (LB)).
Pierre Hage-Boutros has been teaching in ALBA and AUB and he is presently an assistant professor at the Faculté des Beaux-Arts, Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik (USEK) where he is in charge of an joint project with the Unesco Office in Beirut, that aims to revitalize the vanishing local craft industries in Lebanon.
