Lux Redux: Understanding and Activating Luxury Brands

The Fashion Design Program is hosting a talk entitled “Lux Redux: Understanding and Activating Luxury Brands,” to be given by Manal Khater and Lara Akkari from Leo Burnett. 

As the speakers will explain, luxury brands are a special breed. They often defy our standard thinking when it comes to communicating and activating them, so we researched the top ways in which luxury brands create desire and participation, and formulated this Behavioral Guide with contexts, examples and implications. 

Khater is the Regional Strategy Director at Atelier, the luxury division of Leo Burnett. She has been in the advertising and communications industry for the past 12 years, working between Beirut, Dubai, Paris and New York. Manal has an MBA in Luxury Brand Management from ESSEC in Paris, with a focus on the brand building models of leading luxury brands. She is a frequent contributor to regional conferences such as Fashion Forward, Arab Luxury World and Arabnet.

Akkari is the Regional Account Director at Atelier, with 14 years experience in the field of advertising and communication. She has extensive knowledge on all things beauty-related having led the P&G Beauty category for the Middle East and Eastern European market. She has an unbridled passion for fashion and design, along with expert knowledge on luxury brands and an unerring eye for aesthetics.  She is currently based in Dubai where she is heading  the Atelier business development.
